Rag Pickers Protest Right To Job

Human rights politics hit a different pitch on Thursday when hundreds of rag pickers staged a protest demanding protection for their livelihood amidst privatisation that is gobbling away their jobs in the city.

Fending off the wintry morning and violent traffic snarls in the older part of Delhi, the city’s neglected waste pickers rendered their plight in the streets — as the World Human Rights Day was commemorated today.  Article excerpt, full article after the jump.
